Jab has released the long anticipated music video video for his song, “CEO”, in collaboration with Setshot. It was the result of extensive planning throughout 2023 in visualising the 2022 song that ranks amongst Jab’s most popular songs.
Directed by Callum Haslam, the “CEO” music video was the second collaboration of Jab and Haslam. They previously produced the music video for Jab’s song “SPEAK THRU SPEAKERS” which was filmed in location in London. Jab long expressed a desire to produce a video for “CEO” and it became possible through lengthy consultation with Setshot.
“CEO” was created as a picturing of Jab’s lyrical content and depicted scenes from his daily life as a successful businessman. The music video opens with Jab conducting a meeting with associates before it segues into creative scenes that represent the song’s subject matter. Jab is seen performing tricks with his dog, rapping amongst a money shower outside a petrol station, appearing on television and driving away from the police. It concludes with Jab celebrating with his associates and making an announcement of success to gathered news cameras.
The first day of filming took place at 115kws in an office meeting room with actors playing the role of Jab’s associates. Jab reflected on the shoot: “We hired out this lovely office space on King William Street. We filmed a video for my song “CEO”. We had it all mapped out, planned out and now we’re here and it all went well. Went very smooth. Had all the boys at the table dressed up in suits. They had their sunnies on and, yeah, it went a lot better than expected all thanks to Callum Haslam behind me.”
When asked about how the first day of filming went, Jab responded: “I think there’s no problems or complaints about today. I think we did everything we needed to do. As I said, Setshot; Callum behind the camera - he’s very organised. He sets everything out. He sets the days out and what we need to do: where we need to film [and] who needs to be there. He knows what he’s doing. So, how do I think the day went? I think it couldn’t have been better.” Remaining days of filming took place at a petrol station, backstreet and house.
Setshot, known for its innovative approach to video production, brought its expertise and creative vision to the table for this project. With a track record of producing high-quality, engaging content, Setshot aspired to elevate Jab's visual presentation to new heights.
“I was thrilled to be working with Jab on the “CEO” music video," said Haslam, director of Setshot. “It was an undertaking that required a great deal of organisation and it shows in the end product. I wish to express my gratitude to those who spent their time assisting in the project including as actors and others who offered feedback in the post-production stage. I also want to give my appreciation to Jab for his time, creativity and energy.
“CEO” is available to watch now on YouTube.
